  • What I was impressed is people. They are very friendly though they do not understand our language.

  • I have many fond memories of my stay with you and Matti at Hostal Garifuna in August or 2008. Your hospitality and knowledge made the experience a wonderful education. Did you receive the package I sent that year? I hope all is well with you both!

  • the two weeks that change my life.. In 2007 I was working for ATC (Asociación de
    Trabajadores del
Campo) in Nicaragua.. I dont remember how i came in contact whit the people of Garifuna the first time but from one day to another it was al over me, I read every text I could find about their culture and history, there was something very STRONG about it. All I wanted ro do was to visit a Garífuna Comunity, but my time and wallet said no. As most time in this crasy world.. So after my time in the most beautiful place I´ve seen, Nicaragua, I went up home, to the cold part of the world, Sweden.
There was something in the back of my mind and in my hart that year.. what about the Garífuna?. I need to see it, live it.. Live and direct.. I swear, that year I worked like never before, I saved every krona, Al I wanted was to go to that place I didnt know any thing about, to that culture i could only emagin in my mind, but I realy could feal in my hart. I went back to Nicaragua the next year, took the first bus and boat right over To Orinoco, Ive spent about 2 weeks with the best friends i´ve could find in this world, Whitson Lindel Leonel Shanon Ernesto!! Slept in the best hotel in the world talked with the nicest finnish i talkt with, and found out that the Garífuna people is in my opinion one of the strongest and most human cultur i´ve met.. you Know how to live in this life.. Orinoco IS THE MOST and I Miss you alot!.. !! /Johan
